• I have walked a path with horses I did not know existed when I began. Many times I searched for someone to validate my experiences, but those who could relate seem to be few and far between.

There is a price to be paid for every increase in consciousness. We cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain. -Alan Watts.

I have not been to all the places you will be carried to on your path, nor do I carry the same struggles. But I can relay that we don’t have to enter these spaces knowing what to do. Only know that there is the support we need, whether it is from other people, the horses, or simply the path itself.

Horses have shown me many things about myself that I would not have dared to hear from another human. Not only wouldn’t I have understood I wouldn’t have listened. This is a gift of horses for many of us. We allow them into spaces where we don’t often allow another human.  -Karli

  • My personal skill is tracking energy. I can feel and sense it in the body. My body, a horses’ body, it doesn't matter. It is all the same.

In session it is my aim to give the previously unseen a voice. Allowing the body to speak its story and getting quiet to sit with and in these energies so they can be acknowledged, validated and then set free.

Freeing yourself was one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self was another. -Toni Morrison

Working with energetic bodywork and animal communication (I am certified in Equine Bodywork, Reiki, and BodyTalk - full education is listed in the next tab) allows me to focus on integration. Integration between the cells, the organs, the systems, the social systems, the connections between species and ultimately the whole.

When we focus on integration we receive the relational experience of harmony. Where our kidney works in sync with our bladder. Our lymphatic system works with our liver. We can feel the body and its systems in a healthy relationship. This allows for relaxation, as the body is no longer stuck in opposition.

There is no separating a horse out from the human in this relational perspective. They heal in the same way we do, and more than that their healing is our healing.

  • I always include an energetic check in for permission to begin and continue thru the session but just because I have checked in with your horse for permission, does not mean we won’t run into something from your own field that feels unsure. If this occurs we may stop for a moment, or shift the focus of the session.

Even though I am intentional with energetic permissions, spoken requests will always be held in priority. As such your voice is always welcome. Sometimes the voice in itself is the healing that is needed. Never hesitate to bring your full self into session.

The body does not make mistakes; it makes the adaptations it believes it needs to make in order to feel safe. - Equenergy

//permissions

  • a short debriefing of the current struggles, questions and desired outcomes. I will take notes during the session and record audio of our session, as requested.

To open the energetic work I begin with breathing or a short statement of intention with permissions. Session times are totally up to the horse (or other animal) and vary between 20 to 50 minutes, with the average being 40 mins.

It is not my preference to complete a single session and then not check in again. I feel there is discontinuity in this approach and often feel the horse can have a sense of let down, especially when there are many layers to their communications. For this reason, I prefer to offer sessions in sets.

Each session set focuses on one main issue and we check in multiple times.  A common example is to have the first session last 40 mins. At the end of that session, we will discuss when to check in again. We will meet again on the next date and follow up on how the first session went, any changes or shifts.

    Session cost:
$250- 100 minutes of in session work

    Set variation range:
    2 session at 50min/ea.
    5 sessions as 10 min/ea.

Or any combination of 100min of in session time divided up to 5 sessions.
*If more than 100 min of in session time is required a second ‘set’ would be purchased.

Sessions are only offered via distance at this time. We can meet on zoom, or send audio via any messaging app where you can respond in real time, or I can complete the session and send an audio recording upon completion. The details are up to you.

And we lean on each other. Not to hold each other up, but because it feels good to be connected.

  • Nearly all of them. What I would now consider abusive, I have done in the past. From restriction and coercion using the ‘tools of the trade’, to bits, spurs, whips and most impactfully unmediated power and control.

I am deeply aware I am not perfect and I still make mistakes. I still limit my horse's freedom. I hold no pretense that I no longer do any of the things I caution against. My only skill in addition to ‘knowing better’ and ‘doing better’  is that I am in communication with my body. If it does not feel good to me, I stop, and become aware of why this feeling is occurring and choose into a new or different set of actions as necessary.

That said, I do not accept sessions for horses who are deeply involved in the competition or sport world. I find that they (horse or human) either resist the session, which is totally honoured, or begin to struggle more in their competitive environment. Working in this way requires a lot of space and time, which can lead to conflict if the horse is expected to remain performing and participating in sport in the same way as it was previously.

Questioner: How do we treat others?
Ramana Maharshi: There are no others

If you would like to speak to me prior to booking a session I would love to chat.
